Giving your best attention to the few things that move results, and letting the rest wait.

What it means
Focus is choosing the few things that move your results and giving them your best attention. Everything else is allowed to wait, or to go away.
It is not about working harder. A business owner has more good ideas than hours. Focus means you pick, say it out loud, and then protect that pick. Your best energy goes to one or two priorities at a time, not to whatever is loudest today.
Why it matters
Your attention is the one thing in the business you cannot hire more of. If it is spread across twelve things, none of them gets enough to work. When you point it at the right two, the whole team can see what matters and move in the same direction.
- Your team knows what to do first without asking you.
- Big projects finish instead of staying "almost done".
- You end the week with progress, not just a feeling of being busy.
How to use it
- Write down everything you are working on right now. Do not filter it yet.
- Ask: if only two of these moved this quarter, which two would change the business most? Circle them.
- Move the rest to a "later" list. Tell your team clearly that they are paused, not forgotten.
- Start each day by naming the one task that serves your circled priorities. Do it before opening messages.
- Review the circled two every Friday. Swap one only
Common mistakes
- Choosing five priorities and calling it focus.
- Picking priorities that sound impressive instead of ones that move revenue or cash.
- Changing the priority every time a new idea excites you.
- Saying you are focused but still answering every call and message at once.
